We asked her a few questions to help you get to know her a little more. Don’t forget to say hi when you see her in the community.
What do you love about being a music therapist?
I love meeting and learning from different people with different background and seeing how they build relationships with music, within themselves and with others through music.
Can you tell us about a specific music therapy moment that has stuck with your or shaped your practice?
So many! One of the little moments that still stuck with me was during my first in person placement. I was having a session with a hospitalised infant who had been isolated and distressed with all kinds of procedures. During one of our sessions, she began to coo along and smile when I was singing. It was a lovely moment to support her and witness her finding comfort and enjoyment in music in an intense environment.
What is one thing you wish people knew about music therapy?
It’s more than just playing music to people. Creativity in music expands our imagination and the role of music in our life.
What music or instruments do you like to play and listen to?
As a pianist, I love playing the piano and listening to piano music in different genre. But I also like some symphony or big band!
Tell us something we might not know about you…
I love baking yummy desserts to share but I secretly prefer savoury most of the time).
