Industry news: Aged Care Royal Commission final report & recommendations

The Aged Royal Royal Commission have handed down their long awaited report.

Whilst it is confronting to see the number of issues, examples of neglect and inappropriate services across Australia, we were optimistic to see the Royal Commission really recommending a complete industry transformation.

Importantly, recommendation 38 included requirements for residential aged care to include allied health care. Commissioner Briggs recommended by no later than 1 July 2024, all residential aged care providers must employee, or otherwise retain, allied health professionals including a registered music or art therapist. In practice this recommendation has been accepted by the Commonwealth Government and we are awaiting details to further understand how this will be mandated and funded.

To ensure your organisation is providing the best service possible to your residents reach out. We can support you with high quality Registered Music Therapists to ensure you are meet this recommendation.
